Personal Technology Goal

In preparation for the continuing implementation of technology in your classroom, develop a statement or paragraph reflective of a personal goal for technology use in the classroom. Consider each level of technology use outlined in Grappling's Technology and Learning Spectrum and how those levels are applicable in the classroom.

Respond to this post when you have developed your goal. Please comment on one another's goals as well. Remember that we are a learning community and you all have much to share. I look forward to reading about your goals for this coming year by the end of next week.

Well, after looking at the 'spectrum', I think I need to work towards more lessons in the "transforming uses" column rather than just adapting. Of course we all use the laptop for typing, for research, as a reference tool, etc...but I do think sometimes I do the 'same thing, new tool' approach more often than any other. So, that is my goal.

I'd like to know how to use computers and technology interchangeably in the classroom. Specifically, I'd also really like to know what programs to use, and how to use them in a grade-appropriate way, instead of the disorganized jumble of programs I use currently.

I feel I learned a lot of new ideas and now need to practice with my students by trying to implement technology activities using the grappling spectrum, especially focusing on adapting and transforming uses. Fran

Over the course of the next 2 years, I would like to be able to become a teacher that is able to bring technology into the transforming stage of usage. There is an abundance of tools that can be integrated into the curriculum to enhance student learning. Blogs, wikis, class websites etc... would be great additions to my class!
