Students learn how to use PowerPoint by creating a slide presentation called “My Life,” which has three slides that use varied transitions, sound and/or images.
jen - I think that this is more adaptive because PowerPoint is used as a "productivity tool used to adapt assignments/tasks given in the past without technology.
This is adapting and literacy based. It is very teacher directed and students are learning a new computer skills, but students do have a little creative space in reguard to transitions, sound or pictures
I agree with the folks that said that this would be a literacy level task. I don't see that there is any learning in this activity beyond the use of the software. The subject of their project is something they already know about. It's the software that is the object of this lesson--but this doesn't mean that it can't be worthwhile or creative.
Having been in the regular classroom for 22 years, I appreciate the complexities of teaching today. For the last three years I have been a Certified eMINTS Trainer/Mentor and my job is to coach teachers in using inquiry-based teaching in a technology-rich environment. Working with 19 different school districts is a challenging job, but one I look forward to every day.

I am also thinking adaptive as they are doing something they once did but in a new way via technology
