Adaptation level...students are researching a specific scientist and presenting their information in power point format...it involves just a different way of researching and presenting their research
I sort of agree with Arlene, but I think this is a little more than a literacy task. I think that the task moves into adaptation because they are using the software to present a product based on the science curriculum. However, it is not transforming, because they students are not being asked to manipulate the information, there is no open-ended element, and they are just using the computer to replace a report and a poster.
This is adapting. The way it's written it sounds like students already have the skills to produce a powerpoint. The students are putting together a research piece. it sounds like teacher student roles are the same and it's basic research. To hi a level for literacy, but not transforming
Having been in the regular classroom for 22 years, I appreciate the complexities of teaching today. For the last three years I have been a Certified eMINTS Trainer/Mentor and my job is to coach teachers in using inquiry-based teaching in a technology-rich environment. Working with 19 different school districts is a challenging job, but one I look forward to every day.
