Students collect daily weather data and use this information to compare the accuracy of four Internet weather websites. Then students use weather data to make their own weather predictions.
I think we are all in agreement! I think this is transfoming also because the student products require thinking skills that are rather high on Bloom's taxonomy--they gather info from a variety of authentice resources and synthesize this info into a prediction, which can have more than one correct answer.
Having been in the regular classroom for 22 years, I appreciate the complexities of teaching today. For the last three years I have been a Certified eMINTS Trainer/Mentor and my job is to coach teachers in using inquiry-based teaching in a technology-rich environment. Working with 19 different school districts is a challenging job, but one I look forward to every day.

This appears to be transforming. Students use thier own research and data from other groups. Great activity. Wish I could teach weather.
I used to teach weather at the high school level...it was fun...the kids LOVED predicting the weather and checking the accuracy of these predictions.

Jen -I also think that this is transforming because this is a "new story with a new tool". Students become self-directed learners.
